Instead of the sharp, tailored yellow tailcoat popularized by years of fan art, the canon illustration leans straight into chaotic, uncanny absurdity. The outfit pairs standard semi-formal menswear with bizarre exaggerations that immediately set it apart.
Putting this costume together comes down to balancing ordinary garments with a few distinctly weird focal points. You are dealing with a bright yellow plaid button-down shirt, dark gray dress trousers, and basic black formal wear, punctuated by an absurdly elongated top hat, an unhinged grin with grotesque crooked teeth, and a simple hooked cane.
The Plaid Shirt and Bow Tie
The shirt anchors the entire color palette. Bill’s canon illustration features a warm yellow button-down covered in a grid pattern reminiscent of his triangular brickwork. Finding a yellow gold checked plaid dress shirt with black stripes gives you that brick motif without requiring hand-painted fabric lines.
