Palentine’s Mallow EX Costume Guide

Mallow’s 6★ EX Palentine’s variant shifts her usual chocolate-toned patissier uniform into a vibrant crimson-and-cream palette inspired by her partner Appletun. The overall silhouette remains rooted in traditional pastry chef attire, combining a structured double-breasted jacket and neckerchief with a ruffled half apron, high pigtails, and an oversized beret.

Recreating this look comes down to gathering the right base garments and making a few straightforward modifications. Starting with functional culinary wear rather than sewing a coat from scratch gives you authentic structure while keeping the project manageable.

Modifying the Chef Jacket and Neckwear

A standard red double-breasted chef’s jacket serves as the foundation for the upper body. Kitchen coats naturally feature the stiff mandarin collar and overlapping front panel seen in Mallow’s artwork, giving the outfit the clean lines of professional workwear. Most commercial jackets come with standard black or white plastic stud closures, so replacing them with warm beige buttons immediately aligns the coat with the rest of her color scheme. You can stitch flat beige buttons directly over the existing buttonholes or use shank buttons fitted into the stud slots.

At the neck, fold a beige neckerchief into a clean, flat band and tie it snugly beneath the collar so the two triangular ends rest neatly over the center front placket. If the jacket’s stand collar feels rigid against the knot, pressing the inner facing flat with a warm iron helps the fabric sit comfortably without pinching.

Skirt and Apron Construction

Underneath the coat, Mallow wears a camel A-line skirt layered beneath a bakery-style apron. Choosing an A-line skirt in a sturdy cotton twill provides enough structure to hold its flared shape beneath the waist ties. The hemline should fall just above the knee, leaving appropriate proportions for her tall socks and footwear.

Layer a soft pink half apron with white ruffle trim directly over the skirt, cinching it at your natural waistline. The apron hem should land a few inches above the skirt hem to keep both colors clearly visible. Fastening the apron ties beneath the lower edge of the chef’s jacket hides the knot and keeps the waistline looking neat.

Styling the Wig and Beret

Mallow’s forest-green hair is styled into two long, high pigtails that flare outward from the sides of her head. A long green ponytail wig with detachable clip-on tails makes handling the weight much easier than trying to pull a single base wig into high side tails. Securing the base wig with a velvet grip band or toupee clips along the front hairline prevents the heavy pigtails from dragging the wig backward during extended wear. Lightly backcombing the base of each pigtail and setting it with hairspray helps maintain that energetic outward arch.

Her red beret sits tilted slightly toward the back of the head, resting behind the bangs and framed between the two pigtail bases. A felt or wool-blend beret holds its rounded shape naturally without sagging. To keep it from slipping off the smooth synthetic wig fibers, stitch a couple of small snap clips or bobby pin loops inside the inner sweatband so you can anchor it directly into the wig mesh.

Socks and Footwear

The lower half finishes with light green knee socks paired with red loafers. Pull the socks up smooth to just below the knee, providing a soft contrast between the warm camel skirt and the bright red footwear. Choosing slip-on red loafers with a neutral beige sole mirrors the two-tone finish of her in-game shoes and ties the bottom of the outfit back to the crimson jacket and beret above.
