Jimmy’s devil outfit in Scary Godmother captures the look of a classic DIY trick-or-treat getup. Instead of an elaborate theatrical suit, he runs around in a bright red sweatsuit with clip-on devil accessories, giving him the energetic, slightly mischievous appearance of an older kid trying to look menacing on Halloween night.
Because the base outfit relies on everyday athletic wear, the main focus is getting the shades of red to align and handling the hair and horns so they match his animated silhouette. Putting this together is mostly an exercise in pairing the right basic garments with clean accessory placement.
The Red Sweatsuit Base
The core of Jimmy’s devil outfit is an all-red matching top and bottom. A standard Red Hoodie paired with matching Red Sweatpants forms the silhouette. Aim for pieces made from similar fleece or cotton blends so the fabric texture and hue look uniform under room lighting and outdoors.
Underneath the hoodie, Jimmy wears an ordinary Blue T-Shirt. You only see glimpses of it at the collar when the hoodie unzips slightly or sits loose around the neck, but having that blue peeking through breaks up the solid red block and matches his layered design from the special.
For footwear, Black Sneakers keep the outfit grounded. Jimmy is out on foot pulling pranks and trick-or-treating, so standard low-top or mid-top black athletic shoes fit the casual aesthetic without drawing unwanted attention away from the red suit.
Horns, Tail, and Hair
Jimmy’s devil horns are distinct because they have a silvery, metallic finish rather than standard red plastic. A Silver Devil Horns Headband sits directly on the crown of the head. If the headband is noticeable against your hair, you can tuck sections of hair over the band or select one with a slim wire frame that disappears into the styling.
His blonde hair is perpetually messy and spiky, sticking out around the base of the horns and from under the hood when it sits back on his shoulders. Using Blonde Hair Gel or a strong-hold texturizing paste allows you to pull distinct triangular tufts forward over the forehead and outward at the sides. If you are styling your natural hair or working with a short blonde base wig, work the product through damp hair and pinch the tips upward to mirror his animated look.
A Red Devil Tail fastens to the waistband at the back of the sweatpants. A safety pin or heavy-duty clip anchored to the interior elastic keeps the tail pointing downward naturally while letting it swing when walking. Choosing a fabric-wrapped tail with a flexible wire core lets you shape a slight bend into the spade tip so it does not hang limp against the legs.
Sweatshirt Fit and Hood Placement
Proportions play a big part in how the sweatsuit hangs. Jimmy wears his hoodie slightly oversized with relaxed sleeves, but not so baggy that the silhouette loses shape. The ribbed cuffs should sit comfortably at the wrists so you can push them up if needed.
During the special, Jimmy flips between wearing the hood up with the horns poking out and pushing the hood back onto his shoulders so his spiky hair takes center stage. If you plan to pull the hood up, cut small, neat slits along the top seams of the hood to slip the horns through, or simply wear the headband over the fabric. Wearing the horns over the hood prevents tearing and holds the fabric securely against your head while moving around.
Keeping the tail securely attached during active movement takes a little extra reinforcement. Sweatpants have flexible waistbands that can sag under the weight of an accessory pinned to the outside. Threading the tail’s attachment loop directly through the internal drawstring or pinning it from inside through both the waistband and the drawcord distributes the pull evenly.
