Rin Okumura’s design blends a structured private academy uniform with deliberate scruffiness and demonic traits. The silhouette hinges on the True Cross Academy blazer, but Rin never wears it like a model student—his collar stays open, his tie hangs loose, and his tail pokes out from under his hem.
Putting the outfit together is largely about balancing that school uniform base with a few non-human physical details and his signature sword. When the demonic accents sit right and the uniform fits comfortably, the character comes through immediately.
The True Cross Academy Uniform
A pre-made Okumura Rin Uniform Costume with Coat, Shirt, Pants, and Tie covers the clothing base in one package. The jacket is a tailored black or deep navy school blazer featuring the academy crest on the chest pocket, paired with matching straight-leg trousers. Underneath sits a standard white button-up dress shirt and the red-and-black striped tie.
Rin wears his uniform with zero formality. Leave the top collar button unfastened and pull the tie knot down an inch or two rather than cinching it against your throat. The jacket hangs open naturally in most scenes, keeping the shirt and tie visible underneath.
Clip a Silver Wallet Chain to the front belt loop and tuck the loose end back toward the hip pocket. It is a subtle metallic accent from the manga and anime, but it breaks up the dark trousers and reinforces his rebellious streak.
Managing the Tail and Ears
Rin’s demon heritage gives him pointed ears, sharp canine teeth, and a spade-tipped tail. Soft silicone Pointy Elf Ears slide directly over your real ear cartilage. Blending the seams with foundation matching your skin tone creates a clean transition, though the shaggy wig fringe covers the upper attachment points regardless.
The Black Furry Tail needs solid anchoring so it does not droop or swing erratically as you walk. Pre-made cosplay tails typically feature a safety pin or an integrated loop. Threading the attachment point directly through your trouser belt underneath your shirt hem provides the steadiest hold and keeps the base hidden. If the tail has an internal bendable wire, shape it into a gentle curve so it holds a dynamic shape rather than hanging limp.
Wig Styling
Rin’s hair is dark navy blue with piecey, textured layers that frame his face and flare out slightly in back. A Dark Blue Short Anime Wig provides the base color and short cut.
Straight out of the packaging, synthetic fibers tend to lie relatively flat. Rub a small amount of matte styling paste or hair wax between your fingertips and pinch individual clumps throughout the crown to create defined spikes. Rin’s bangs part slightly to show his forehead and eyebrows, so trim the fringe slightly if it obscures your eyes.
Boots and Kurikara
Instead of standard school loafers, Rin wears distinctive Rin Okumura Red Fur-Trim Boots. The fold-over red cuffs with white lining supply an immediate contrast against the dark uniform trousers. Tuck the pant cuffs cleanly into the boot shafts to keep the lower leg profile sharp.
The final element is Kurikara, his demon-slaying blade. A prop Blue Katana Sword matches the blue scabbard and wrapped tsuka seen on screen. Convention weapon policies vary, so verify your event allows wooden, foam, or blunt prop blades before carrying one into an exhibition hall. Slung across your shoulder or carried by the sageo cord, it anchors the entire look.
