Benatar’s design leans heavily into late-2000s indie rock fashion filtered through stylized web animation. The outfit contrasts formal tailoring with casual concert gear, pairing a sharp blazer and necktie with skate sneakers, fingerless gloves, and anime-inspired yellow hair.
Because Your Favorite Martian uses clean vector art, the outfit works best in real life when the colors remain bold and flat. A bright royal blue jacket, vivid crimson tie, and stark white shirt establish the character right away, while darker trousers anchor the bottom half.
The Tailored Upper Half
The core silhouette starts with a single-breasted royal blue jacket worn open over a clean white dress shirt. The jacket should have structured shoulders and a standard notch lapel to match Benatar’s slightly stiff, prep-school-meets-band-geek aesthetic. A rich cobalt or royal blue shade works far better than navy, which can easily disappear in convention hall lighting or look like ordinary office attire.
Beneath the jacket, a plain white collared shirt stays buttoned up to accommodate a slim red tie. The tie should hit right around the beltline, tied with a tidy four-in-hand knot. Keeping the shirt tucked in keeps the waistline clean, preventing excess fabric from bunching when you carry an instrument.
Trousers and Footwear
