Kanata and Kuina Ubuyashiki share nearly identical designs, defined by deep purple patterned kimonos, rigid blunt-cut bobs, and purple wisteria ornaments pinned above the ear. The only functional difference between the two sisters comes down to hair color: Kanata wears stark white, while Kuina wears jet black.
Because their clothing is relatively straightforward, the visual impact depends almost entirely on crisp silhouette lines. A clean kimono fold, a properly tied obi, and a neatly trimmed wig matter far more here than elaborate armor pieces or weathered fabrics.
The Purple Kimono and Obi
The core garment is a rich purple kimono with subtle wisteria or geometric patterning along the fabric. Both the Kanata Purple Kimono and Kuina Purple Kimono sets typically come pre-assembled with the matching robe and contrasting obi sash. If you assemble or alter your own pieces, aim for an ankle-length hem that hangs straight down without bunching around the feet.
Kimonos require proper undergarments to sit smoothly across the torso. Wearing an under-kimono or even a flat cotton tank top helps prevent the neckline from slipping during movement. Fasten the left side over the right—right over left is reserved strictly for burials—and secure the collar firmly against the base of your neck before tightening the obi. A small strip of fashion tape inside the collar fold prevents it from shifting apart when walking around an event.
Wig Selection and Blunt Bob Styling
The hairstyles define the twins instantly. Kanata needs a Short White Wig, while Kuina calls for a Short Black Wig. You won’t need complex styling, but both wigs require the exact same haircut: a chin-length bob with blunt bangs resting just above the eyebrows.
Most pre-styled synthetic wigs arrive slightly longer than pictured to accommodate different head sizes. Place the wig on a mannequin head or wear it while trimming, then cut into the bangs with small vertical snips rather than one straight horizontal chop. This softens the edge slightly while keeping the signature blunt shape. A quick pass of hairspray smoothed down with a comb keeps stray fibers flat and tidy.
Wisteria Hair Comb and Violet Eyes
Each sister wears a Purple Floral Hair Comb tucked into the side of the hair, resting just above the temple. Position the ornament slightly angled toward the front so the wisteria petals stay visible from both direct and profile angles. If the built-in comb feels loose in synthetic wig fiber, slide two bobby pins in an “X” shape through the base of the hairpiece to lock it firmly into the wig cap.
Both sisters feature striking purple irises. Pairing the outfit with PinkyParadise Venus Eye Violet Contacts gives the eyes the vivid, slightly unearthly tint seen throughout the series. If you wear lenses, insert them before putting on eye makeup to avoid trapping mascara particles or eyeshadow dust beneath the lens surface.
Footwear and Legwear
Complete the lower half with white split-toe tabi socks and traditional zori sandals. Plain flat sandals with dark or purple thongs work well without distracting from the kimono hem. If you plan to spend long hours standing or walking, opt for sandals with slight foam cushioning in the footbed to keep your feet comfortable.
