Itachi Uchiha’s appearance is defined by stark contrasts: a heavy, high-collared black coat over fitted dark shinobi garb, framed by long dark bangs and the vivid red of the Sharingan. Because the Akatsuki cloak conceals most of the body during standard wear, its proportions, drape, and collar structure establish the entire profile.
Beneath the outer robe, the functional ninja base provides structure whenever the coat shifts open or when posing with an arm resting through the front zipper. Getting the relationship right between the loose, flowing cloak and the snug, wrapped lower legs keeps the silhouette balanced from top to bottom.
The Akatsuki Cloak
The black robe is the centerpiece of the outfit, and its defining structural element is the tall, upright collar. The collar stands stiffly around the lower face and chin rather than sagging onto the shoulders. Commercially available cloaks vary significantly in collar stiffness; if the collar droops, inserting craft interfacing or light plastic boning along the inner facing helps it maintain an upright shape. The crimson lining should show clearly along the inner edges and lapels when partially unzipped.
Pay close attention to overall length. The hem should fall around mid-calf or just above the ankles, leaving the wrapped shins and footwear visible. The crimson clouds require clean white outlines and balanced placement across the chest, back, and lower hem. Itachi frequently walks with his right hand slipped out of the sleeve and resting inside the front opening of the coat. A sturdy center-front zipper that glides smoothly to mid-chest makes this pose effortless without pulling the fabric out of alignment.
Shinobi Base Layers and Leg Wraps
Under the robe, Itachi wears a dark navy or charcoal two-piece set consisting of loose pants and a short-sleeved top with a subtle mesh undershirt visible at the neck. The shirt should fit relatively close to the torso so it does not add bulk underneath the heavy cloak, while the pants remain loose through the thighs before tapering down toward the calves.
The transition from the trousers into the footwear requires careful bundling. The wide pant legs tuck tightly into white fabric bandages or elastic wraps that encase the shins from below the knee down to the ankles. Wrapping the fabric flat and securing it with safety pins or fabric tape prevents the pants from ballooning over the wraps. The footwear consists of open-toed shinobi sandals with cutouts at the heel and toe, worn over matching dark stirrup socks to maintain a clean line.
Hair, Headband, and Facial Accents
Itachi’s jet-black hair sits in a low, loose ponytail at the nape of the neck, while two long front sections hang down to frame the jawline. Most synthetic cosplay wigs arrive with bangs that are too uniform or excessively long. Trimming the front locks with thinning shears so they taper naturally around cheek level keeps them from obscuring the face during movement or photography.
The scratched Leaf Village headband ties securely across the brow, positioned beneath the roots of the front hair wefts. The horizontal gouge across the engraved Konoha emblem is a central narrative marker, so ensure the metal plate sits centered without tilting. Below the headband, Itachi’s distinct tear troughs—deep diagonal fatigue lines extending from the inner eye corners down onto the cheeks—can be drawn using a matte taupe or neutral brown eye pencil. Lightly smudging the lines gives them depth without appearing like harsh stage paint.
Red Sharingan contact lenses with three black tomoe markings finish the eyes. Selecting lenses with high pigment opacity keeps the crimson color clear over naturally dark irises.
Jewelry and Nail Detailing
Akatsuki members each carry a designated ring denoting their position in the organization. Itachi wears the vermilion ring bearing the kanji character ‘Shu’ on his right ring finger. Alongside the ring, he wears a three-ring chain necklace suspended on a dark cord, which rests flat against the collarbone and becomes visible whenever the cloak is unzipped.
A subtle yet consistent character detail is the dark nail polish applied to both fingernails and toenails. A deep purple or near-black plum lacquer mirrors the color seen in official art, adding polish to the hands and the exposed toes in the open sandals.
